I was saddened when I heard this, too. But at least he got a full life (so many cancer victims do not), and he left behind a wealth of recordings. I was also always very impressed by Luciano’s efforts to bridge the gaps between music genres. Opera, pop, country, heavy metal? The style, the specific instrumentation, or the arrangement, didn’t matter to him. As he used to say: “Good music is good music, and bad music is bad.”
I’ll have to put on “Nessun Dorma” tonight ...
Good point, Jase! He did have a full life and at least we have many wonderful recordings to remember him by.
